The current risk to Oregonians has increased
● This is an evolving situation and is being monitored closely.
● Travelers visiting affected locations internationally may be at elevated risk of exposure.
Our region is responding for COVID-19
● Federal, state and local officials are working to detect cases of this virus.
● Any residents who develop symptoms of the flu are asked to stay home during the incubation period (14 days).
● Health officials have plans in place to protect the public.
● Testing is reserved for the most severely ill (unless you are contacted directly by Public
Health).
● We know from other countries that the majority of people recover from this virus.
Keep healthy
The same things that protect against cold and flu germs, also prevent COVID-19:
● Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
● Cover your cough and sneeze into a tissue.
● Stay home if you’re sick.
● Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
● Keep your immune system strong by eating a healthy diet, getting enough sleep and regular
exercise, and by taking care of underlying health conditions.
● Don’t touch your face, especially your eyes, nose, and mouth unless you have washed your
hands.
● Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects like doorknobs and surfaces like countertops.
Use cleaning products as directed.
● If you think you may have been exposed, please stay home at the first sign of a cough or fever and take care of yourself. Remain at home until at least 24 hours after your symptoms have ended.
● If your illness becomes severe or you have difficulty breathing, call your healthcare provider for medical attention. Your healthcare provider will help you make a plan. They will talk about whether you need to be seen and if so, how to do so safely without exposing others.
● Only seek medical care if you really need it and only call 911 in an emergency.
